My Twisted Relationship with Veronica Mars

If you haven’t seen the first-season finale and second-season premiere for Veronica Mars, watch those first. When you’re hurting as much as I am, come back and read this post. Or just read it anyway so you can laugh at how ridiculous I am.

I was so excited when Veronica and Logan started getting together in episode 18 of the first season. Duncan was cute, but he was weird and boring, and Logan had become much more sympathetic to me with the revelations about his family life and with his mother’s death. The first time Logan and Veronica kissed, I was so excited I ran and got my roommate (who does not watch VM) so he could see, too. Over the next couple of episodes their relationship went through such a rollercoaster of ups and downs, ons and offs, betrayals, breakups, and jumping to conclusions (on Veronica’s part, as usual) that by the end of the Season One finale I despaired of them ever getting back together again. So imagine my ecstatic transports of joy when Logan is the one who shows up and Veronica’s door at the end of Season One! . . . and now imagine my heartbroken distress when Veronica breaks up with him yet again even though the poor guy is in so much pain! How could you say “no” to that irresistible baby face, Veronica? How? and WHY?!!

Anyway, I’m growing used to this new development. Slowly–I didn’t sleep very well last night because Logan’s unhappiness and subsequent horrible choices were haunting me–but hopefully surely. And now that Veronica and Duncan are having a more interesting relationship themselves, and Logan is getting less sympathetic again, it’s a little easier to deal with. I still have hopes of another Veronica/Logan pairing in the future, or at least for Logan to be happy somehow.
