Blood and Christmases: A Dialogue in Two Voices

Karie: Just checkin’ in to see how your holiday went.

me: It was okay. I spent Christmas Eve day baking, and then I spent that evening with a friend’s family.
And then I spent Christmas by myself.

Karie: Please tell me you did something fun, like went to the movies.

me: No . . . but I did watch a really bloody Japanese samurai movie.
On DVD.
And I ate a lot.

Karie: Blood and Christmas. Those go so well together.

Ha! Glad you enjoyed our conversation. Also, I found the “Stories I Tell Myself” very insightful. I like your writing style.

    Thanks!

Oh, and do you mind if I quote one of our recent conversations in my next blog post? You know, the one about how appropriate it is to watch blood-soaked samurai films on Christmas?

Yay! I made it into your blog! WEIRD coincidence: I spent the better part of December 25th, 2006 alone in my bedroom watching THE greatest samurai movie of all time: The Seven Samurai. Fanfrickentastic movie!

Maybe I should try that one next year. Lone Wolf and Cub: Sword of Vengeance was a little meh. Very bloody, though.
