I Have Gone Insane
I told my boss today that I’m planning on applying for library science master’s programs for the next school year, and that I was specifically considering attending her alma mater. This, of course, means that she will never forget this plan. Not that I wasn’t serious, but there are a few considerations that may come into play.
First, I have not yet graduated from my current master’s program, and might not until next December. Hopefully April. But maybe December.
Second, I have not even begun to pay off my current student loans.
Third, entry-level librarian jobs do not pay beans, even if they are fascinating and fulfilling and exactly what I want to spend the rest of my life doing.
This all means, of course, that I have to pass my quals this weekend, so that I can graduate from my current program in April, so I can be out of school over the summer, so I can save up enough money to afford the first year of library school, so I can graduate from library school in 2009, so I can become a full-time, real librarian and live happily ever after.
Sounds like a plan.
