Once Upon a Time . . .
Pan’s Labyrinth is a dark, twisted fairy tale, full of monstrous cruelty and breathless wonder. I highly, highly recommend it. My friend Craig disagrees with me, but what can you do?
Also recommended is Del Toro’s other film about Civil-War-Era Spain, The Devil’s Backbone.

I’m Team Sean on this one. I FINALLY went to see Pan’s Labryinth last night, and I absolutely loved it!
Also, I have been meaning to thank you for recommending Sunshine over at the EDS board. After hearing such glowing remarks from a library boy, you know I had to pick it up. I read it a month or two ago and I really enjoyed it as well.
Yay for dark but good stories!

It really is fantastic. I sat at my computer for an hour trying to do it justice, but nothing I wrote came close to evoking the sense of wonder and terror I felt while watching the actual film. So I gave up.
And Sunshine is one of my favorite books ever. Which reminds me, it’s about time for me to reread it.
