Food: It’s What’s for Dinner

Sognatrice of Bleeding Espresso posted a recipe a few weeks ago for “Pasta with Fresh Tomatoes and Basil,” a dish I remember very well from when I lived in Italy. So I decided to make it today!

Except, because Smith’s was out of fresh basil, I made it without fresh basil.

And since it turned out I was mistaken in thinking I had dried basil, I made it without basil at all.

But still, it turned out very well. Here are some photos, and you can read the recipe on Sognatrice’s blog.

“Pasta with Fresh Tomatoes and Basil

The ingredients: penne, olive oil, tomatoes and garlic
(not shown: onion, because it was already in the sauce)
The sauce. And look: there’s the onion!
The finished product. Such rampant deliciousness!

Looks great, and I’m sure the basilico was there in spirit ;)

I’m planning on making it again in a couple of weeks after I’ve been to the local farmer’s market. You know, when I have REAL ingredients.

OMG, I went to Whole Foods and *almost* made the exact same thing. Only mine had organically grown chicken.

    …Scary…

Mine had organic, free-range onions in it. Never caged!
