An Argument for Journal-Keeping
The vicious irony of my life could not be any more poignant right now if it had been scripted. Once again, my own insecurities have proved my undoing, ruining the very opportunities I was most insecure about. The idea is that you live and learn, right? Not so much in my case. But according to Daniel Gilbert’s book, Stumbling on Happiness, human beings simply aren’t good at remembering their past misfortunes, and thus are badly positioned to prevent them from reoccurring in the future.
And that, children, is why everyone should keep a journal. And a blog.
