An End-of-Year Meme
I got this idea from Todd over on Todd’s Hammer. The rules for the meme: Take the first line from the first post of every month for the last year, and post them together as a kind of cross-section of what you were blogging about during the year. Remember to link to all the posts you are excerpting.
This has been a really long year for me, and it’s funny to see how much has changed and how much has somehow stayed the same.
January: Happy New Year!
New Year’s Eve in America is boring–just try the Italian version, which involves standing on one’s balcony, shooting off guns, lighting firecrackers, and THROWING LARGE APPLIANCES OVER THE EDGE.
February: today is the day we talk about meritocracy!
I have linked to this webcomic before in a different context, but today I am linking to Dinosaur Comics because it is fantastic, and everyone should read it.
March: Bête Noire Or Best Friend?
Today, Gallup posted a poll concerning nationwide opinions about, and impressions of, the Mormon religion.
April: It’s True. “Same-Sex Attraction” Is a Risible Term.
Remember how I blogged just a little while ago about the Mormon Church’s heinous, homophobic press release from last August?
May: Daily Herald Article: “Convention ends with Satan and immigrants”
Via Dooce.com: This, THIS is why Utah County is no fit place for any thinking being.
June: Confiteor vobis
A friend read some of the confessional-type posts I’ve written in the past little while, and sent me an e-mail asking if I was really happier—presumably, now that I’m an atheist, ex-Mormon, gay, and out.
July: Comixx Exxtravaganza!!!!
I’ve posted six 1- and 2-panel comics on my webpage for all of you to enjoy, including the one I posted here a few days ago.
August: Author Spotlight: Georgette Heyer
Jane Austen was an awesome writer.
September: What Is This Thing You Call “Free Time”?
Day Three of the “Web Institute.”
October: In Which I Blame an Outside Agency for All My Ills, and Rightly So
One of the lies that I am fond of telling myself is that I am a noticing kind of person.
November: I Mix Up South Korea and Tasmania All the Time
. . . but why should I learn how to tell them apart?
December: Boku Massage
I went and got a massage last night chez Boku Massage, my friend and coworker Allison’s new massage parlor.
