A Contemporary Look at Christmas and Nuptial Celebrations, Vis-à-Vis the Author’s Family

Lots of news. My brother got married Dec. 22, and as soon as I upload all the photos to Flickr I’ll post a link to the album here. It’s weird to think that my twenty-two-year-old brother is already married—it’s not that he seems younger than his age, it’s just that I don’t exactly feel old enough to be married, so how can he?

Besides providing the opportunity to take hundreds of photos, the wedding also brought the whole family together for the first time in seven years, which has been a fun experience. This was also (for reasons perhaps best left unexplored here) the first Christmas I’ve spent with the family since 2004, and it has turned out much better than I secretly expected. When I’m not with my family, sometimes I forget how much they mean to me, and how genuinely happy they are to be with me.

We’ll see if these good feelings last through the drive to California tomorrow, and for the week I’ll be spending there with my family.

In the meantime, feel free to peruse the Christmas photo set I just published on Flickr.
