World Butter and Apple Reserves May Never Recover
I’ve been cooking almost non-stop since December 23—for Christmas, for my brother’s wedding reception, for my family, and for my own amusement, among other reasons. It’s a great change to suddenly have a whole army of people to cook for, when I usually only have myself and maybe my coworkers (and that’s only if I want to wrestle with bags and containers on the train).
Just over the past week I have made:
- 1 batch pfeffernüsse cookies
- 1 apple tart
- 1 apple cake
- 2 citrus cakes (1 lemon, 1 lemon/lime)
- 1 sweet-potato/acorn-squash pie
- 1 batch cornbread, with soysage gravy (yum!)
- 1 Indian meal, with homemade dal, raita and naan
- 1 giant batch brownies (including 1 pan cheesecake brownies)
- 1 loganberry crisp
- 2 risottos (1 mushroom, 1 broccoli-cheese)
- 1 cucumber, fennel & dill salad with red wine vinaigrette
- 2 loaves almost-no-knead bread (from Cook’s Illustrated)
I’d better stop cooking and eating so much food, though, if I want to continue to fit into my skinny jeans.

mmm… I need to come and visit you again.
plus, I have a highly contagious parasite (true story!) and it would help you fit into your jeans.

A parasite, on top of all the dairy I’ve been consuming, is just what I need to send my digestive system completely out of commission. LOL

They’re getting tighter, but I do still fit in them. Of course, it helps that what I call my “skinny jeans” might be some other guy’s “fat jeans.” LOL
