Sign the Courage Campaign’s Letter to Mormon Church President!
The Courage Campaign, a progressive California PAC, has written an open letter to Mormon church president Thomas Monson, decrying the lies that have filled the Mormon-funded and -backed Proposition 8 and urging him to withdraw support for the proposition and to stop meddling in California politics.
Go read the letter at couragecampaign.org and, if you agree with it, sign your name! The letter will be delivered to the Mormon Los Angeles temple on Tuesday, which… well, I don’t know why they’re taking it there, or if it will ever actually get to Monson. But it’s a great letter!
If you are a Mormon who wants to come out against Prop 8, consider writing a letter of your own and posting it at SigningforSomething.org or including your personal story at MormonsforMarriage.com.

Here’s an incoherent and funny message some brave anonymous soul left on my Meebo account last night. Unfortunately, the person left no contact info for me to rebut their stunning logic, so I’m posting the one-sided exchange here.
[23:08] meeboguest796930: The church is not “meddling” in California politics. Anyone can donate money to or support a particular side of an issue in politics. Otherwise, wouldn’t all the actors in Hollywood be “meddling” by contributing the millions they have? What about the other churches supporting the “yes” side? What about Apple for the “no” side? Why is it that only the LDS church is seen as “meddling” and not any of them?
[23:11] meeboguest796930: I don’t know why its even coming to vote again if marriage was already voted BY THE MAJORITY to be between a man and a woman in California. “Meddling” or no “meddling”, majority rules. That’s a basic idea in America, and I don’t think it will change, no matter how much those for a “no” to prop 8 try to make it change
[23:13] meeboguest796930: The LDS church teaches tolerance and love, and no official statement or ad from the church would even come close to the bigotry and hatred like that in the youtube ad of the lesbian couple and the missionaries
[23:14] meeboguest796930: That ad was below-the-belt, incredibly hypocritical, and frankly quite childish

Wow. I feel this good person’s love, tolerance and lack of bigotry, hypocrisy, and meddling, already.
