I Think I Have Identified Your Problem
Patron: “I want to talk to someone who does books on tape.”
Me: “‘Does books on tape’?”
Patron: “Someone who has experience listening to books on tape.”
Me: “Ah, okay…”
Patron: “I’m really frustrated. The books on tape I’ve been listening to aren’t good! They’re all fiction and mysteries. I want ones that are historically accurate!”
Me: “Have you… uh, have you tried the biographies or nonfiction?”

This is totally random, but does the library have any book clubs? I know I should just ask someone at the library when I’m there, but I figured you wouldn’t mind.
I just need to do something. Anything. lol

alana, I assume you want a book club for adults in English? (Correct me if I’m wrong.) I believe most of the library-sponsored clubs are collected on this page on the City Library website. I’m not really involved with any of them, so the best way to get more information is to contact the individual agency/department that runs them—i.e., the fiction department at the Main Library, or one of the sponsoring branches. You can call the library’s main number at 801-524-8200 and ask to be transferred.

Sean,
These conversations with library patrons are hilarious. You need to publish a book one day with all of them.

That’s hilarious. I was in customer service, for years and it’s tough! Some of the questions these people come up with. And you just think where’d that come from?!
