City Weekly: Man fired from job with Mormon church because he wouldn’t give up gay friends

Yup! The guy even made a surreptitious recording of his interview with his stake president, in which he was told that by associating with gays he had failed the temple-recommend question regarding “affiliat[ing] with… any group or individuals whose teachings or practices are contrary to or opposed to those accepted by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.” Since all Mormon church employees are required to either hold a recommend or be “worthy” of one, the stake president’s action immediately and directly resulted in his termination. So if you have a job with the Mormon church (although why would you, really?) quit now while you’re ahead, or get ready for your stake president to start micro-managing your friend circle to suit his prejudices.
