Alone and Unobserved

Sat down in the stylist’s chair on Friday and asked for something different. After a bit of discussion, two pots of color and a lot of razorwork, this is the result.

Last night Craig and I had our Winter Solstice Party. Sorry there are no pictures. You’ll just have to take my word for it that it was lots of fun. Gallons of eggnog and mulled wine and cider and punch were made and consumed. Cheeses of all descriptions were devoured. Bacon-wrapped water chestnuts were also featured. And of course batch after batch of holiday cookies and treats.

There are lots of leftovers. My coworkers are about to receive a bonanza in the form of cookies, bars, cake, tarts and such. Lucky them!

My hair did this (or a variation thereof) all day. Kinda wispy and swoopy and brittle and dry.

That’s what comes of

1. letting my hair get longer than it has been since I was fifteen
2. allowing my hair to get damp and frizz and then bake in the sun until bone-dry—twice in one day
3. thinking impure thoughts

Impure thoughts can be blamed for anything.

My old hair

Under the heater—you can still see my old hair straggling out from under the cap.

I swear I got highlights. If you squint against the glare, maybe you can see them.

I haven’t mentioned my hair for quite awhile, but since my hair came out looking so nice after this last one, I thought I’d post a pic. And here it is:

Note the highlights, texture and—a bit off-subject—the rose-colored shirt (one of the four I got in Montréal last month).

Well, I finally got my hair cut . . . yes, again. My hair grows very fast, which is either a curse or a blessing, depending on how you look at it. I’ve posted pictures of the new look to my Flickr photostream.

I got my hair cut a couple of weeks ago, and I just realized I never posted the photo I took of myself. Here it is.

Well, here they are. The long-awaited pics of me without my beautiful, golden-brown locks. Sorry about the poor image quality–my roommate’s digital camera is definitely not top-of-the-line, but I work with what I have.

I’ve been really irritated with my hair lately. It’s thinning slightly in the front and at the crown, which is bad enough, but the texture of my hair has completely changed as well, which makes it almost impossible to style. Well, this morning at about three a.m. I decided enough was enough and buzzed it all off. So now I look like a chubby, unshaven thug. Oh, well. I’ll post a picture as soon as I have one.
